Description Tufts University's facilities department provides professional, high quality and cost effective services to the faculty, staff and students of the university. The commitment includes planning, building, maintaining and operating the department to maximize long-term value. Position requires extensive experience and knowledge in the maintenance, installation and repair of various types of electrical equipment, devices, lighting and wiring methods. Must have experience installing and troubleshooting 120/240 and 277/480 volt wiring systems. Must be able to troubleshoot install and repair emergency lighting, standby power (generator/UPS) systems. Knowledge of Medium Voltage (5 – 13 kV) Electrical Distribution Systems preferred. Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints. Will have the education and a minimum of fourteen years' experience as an electrician of which four years may have been spent as an apprentice and the last ten current years working in the field. Must have valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License and a valid Massachusetts Driver's License. Must be mature, neat and workman like, adaptable and have the ability to work professionally, pleasantly and tactfully, with his or her fellow employees, faculty, students and staff. Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language. Must be physically able to meet requirements on attached listing. This position requires on 24/7 call duties as set forth by the Facilities Services agreement.
