Description Tufts University's Facilities department provides professional, high quality and cost effective services to the faculty, staff and students of the University. The Electrician I position requires the ability to perform electrical work in all areas of the University campus. Will install, maintain, and repair building electrical distribution systems, building and outside lighting systems, variable frequency drives, building safety equipment, motor control centers (including but not limited to fans, pumps, and motors), and other electrical-related systems; install and maintain fire alarm systems, which may include Simplex, Gamewell, Notifier and/or other types of fire protection systems once the necessary training has been provided by management; and perform all installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the Massachusetts' electrical code and/or established compliance requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.

Qualifications Basic Requirements: EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must hold a current Massachusetts electrical license.
Boston F-1 license preferred.
At least 5 years of professional experience in the facilities maintenance industry.
Five (5) years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment with related training. Relevance of experience will be determined based on similar equipment, procedures, and job functions as determined by the University. Additional related education maybe substituted for work experience.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
The position requires extensive knowledge and experience in the maintenance, installation, and repair of various types of electrical devices, lighting, and wiring methods. Must have experience installing and troubleshooting 120/208 and 277/480 volt wiring systems.
Understands how to read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of electrical distribution systems. ESSENTIAL WORK SKILLS REQUIRED:

On-call and overtime hours as needed, per assigned schedule
Good hygiene and cleanliness is required at all times
